Claire Tabouret

Claire Tabouret (born in 1981, lives and works in Paris and Los Angeles) uses both personal and found photographs as the basis of large-scale portraits, layering paints of various hues and opacities to create a fluid effect of transparency. They represent groups of ghostly characters with pallid faces, frozen in their frosty settings, staring down the viewer with a direct, yet impenetrable, gaze. The Pinault Collection is lending her painting Sitting to the Villa Medicis, where it will be included, from May to July 2017, in a joint exhibition with Yoko Ono conceived by Chiara Parisi. L.E.
